The course in detail
The structure of the course means that you can bring a ‘live’ project with you and get feedback and guidance from us. During the intervals between training sessions you can apply what you’ve learnt and report back during the next session. This mentoring type of training structure means that as well as attaining black belt certification, you’ll also have been guided through your first black belt project at your place of work.
Class sizes are limited to 10 candidates and the training sessions are heavily weighted towards hands-on activities to enhance learning. Students need be comfortable with a basic level of statistical methods.
The course focuses on the six key areas of Lean Six Sigma but at a much more advanced level than green belt:
Lean key principles
7 deadly wastes
Lean leadership & culture
Voice of the customer
Scope and stakeholder analysis
Identifying key performance indicators
Data types and sampling
Common and special cause variation
Process sigma and DPMO
Value stream mapping
The five whys
Failure mode effect analysis
Pilot trial design
Standard operating procedures
Control plans and charts
The course also includes:
- Design of Experiments
- Advanced Statistics modules 1 & 2

We also offer bespoke training for black belts within your company and can tailor a course specifically to give the training and guidance your own students require.
“The six sigma course and follow up consultation has provided much needed structure to the way that problems are resolved within our business. The training course and accompanying resource pack is presented in such to away to encourage immediate engagement in live business problems or cost saving opportunities. All attendees from my organisation completed the course furnished with confidence, enthusiasm and knowledge of how to practically apply the learnings to realise significant financial savings.
Six months later, all of the six sigma candidates have completed successful and lucrative projects and are beginning another. I believe that OXCAL have encouraged a sustained and fundamental improvement in our problem solving philosophy.”
